HC Deb 25 February 1931 vol 248 c2144W
Mr. ALLEN

asked the Postmaster-General whether he has invited the views of the Indian postal authorities on the contention submitted by the London Chamber of Commerce that a ¼-ounce initial weight for the Indian air mail, with a substantial reduction in cost, would attract more than double the present percentage of the Indian mail carried by air?

Mr. VIANT

The answer is in the negative. I have no reason for thinking that the institution of a ¼-ounce unit would have the effect on the traffic which the hon. Member suggests.
