HC Deb 24 February 1931 vol 248 c1955W
Mr. JAMES C. WELSH

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland, whether he will consider the calling of a housing conference in Lanarkshire similar to those already held in other parts of the country to stimulate a keener interest in the legislation dealing with slum clearance?

Mr. W. ADAMSON

Information received by the Department of Health for Scotland shows that practically all the local authorities in Lanarkshire are taking steps to provide houses with assistance under the Housing (Scotland) Act, 1930, and that they are familiar with the provisions of the Act. But if the local authorities express a desire to have a conference for the purpose of a further explanation of the Act, the Under-Secretary of State will be pleased to attend.
