§ Mr. MANDERasked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs if any estimate has been made of the additional annual cost caused to this country, and as to what additional forces in the Army, Navy, and Air Force are raised, in virtue of our obligations under the treaties of alliance with Portugal, and, in particular, that of 23rd June, 1661, by which this country undertakes to defend and protect Portugal and all Portuguese colonies, and to carry out certain military and naval obligations; and whether the matter has been brought before the Committee of Imperial Defence?
