asked the Secretary of State for Scotland if he will furnish statistics of public assistance in continuation of those given in reply to a question on 30th January, 1930?

STATEMENT giving Certain Particulars with regard to the Number of Persons in receipt of Poor Relief in Scotland at 15th May, 1930, and the amount of expenditure on such relief in the year ended on that date.

*The figures given here represent the cost of maintenance of pauper lunatics borne by Parish Councils, namely, one-half of the cost. The other half-cost of maintenance is borne by District Boards of Control.
† The increased cost of indoor poor is practically all accounted for in Glasgow Parish which has increased expenditure of £96,000 mainly on repairs to poorhouses.
