HC Deb 17 February 1931 vol 248 c1090W
Mr. FREEMAN

asked the President of the Board of Trade whether he has any figures showing the profits or losses made in the following industries for each year since the War, namely, coal, iron and steel, oil, cotton, wine and spirit, tobacco, and banking?

Mr. W. R. SMITH

The only industry for which official figures showing profits and losses are compiled is coal, and for these figures I would refer my hon. Friend to the Annual Reports of the Secretary for Mines and the quarterly Statistical Summary relating to the coal mining industry.
