Mr. FREEMAN

asked the Minister of Health what were the ages of the seven children under two years of age who were reported to have died from smallpox in the year 1930; whether any of them were suffering from any other disease; and whether any other disease appeared on the death certificate?

Mr. GREENWOOD

The ages of the seven children and the diseases, other than smallpox, which appeared on the death certificate, were as shown in the following table. I have no information as to whether any of the children were suffering from any disease not entered on the certificate.

Age. Certified Cause of Death (in addition to Smallpox).
1. 3 weeks
2. 18 days Prematurity Jaundice.
3. 8 months Brouchial Pneumonia.
4. 8 months Broncho Pneumonia Pertussis.
5. 1 month Pyæmia.
6. 13 days
7. 7 weeks Pyæmia.
