§ Mr. LAWTHERasked the Attorney-General whether any special considerations are given as to the length of service on local authorities or public work in the appointment of justices of the peace; and how many of the appointments in Durham since 1924 have such qualifications?
§ The ATTORNEY-GENERALIn considering the suitability of persons for appointment as justices of the peace the Lord Chancellor gives due weight to such public services as have been rendered by the persons recommended for appointment. No record is kept of the public services of persons appointed in Durham since 1924, but those appointed have generally a long record of public service.
