HC Deb 11 February 1931 vol 248 c416W
Mr. C. WILLIAMS

asked the Minister of Labour where the prospective shortage of labour in the kerb-dressing industry is anticipated; and if she will take steps to accelerate her plans to meet this contingency?

Mr. LAWSON

A present or prospective shortage of kerb-dressers is stated to exist in the principal areas where suitable stone is quarried. As the hon. Member was informed on 5th February, certain proposals for a training scheme have been formulated by the Department and are under consideration by representatives of the quarrying industry who, I am sure, will let my right hon. Friend have their views as soon as possible.
