HC Deb 05 February 1931 vol 247 c2130W
Mr. FREEMAN

asked the President of the Board of Trade whether his attention has been called to the invention of an apparatus for the prevention of pollution by oil from ships on rivers and coastal waters, thus rendering valuable service for the saving of fish and bird life; and whether he intends to take any action in regard to its use?

Mr. W. GRAHAM

There are several types of separator on the market, and a certain number of ships are fitted with separators. I should be glad to see the use of apparatus of this kind extended, but I am afraid that the matter could only be effectively dealt with by international action.
