HC Deb 02 February 1931 vol 247 c1447W
Mr. WALKER

asked the Minister of Transport whether, in view of Recommendation XXIV of the Royal Commission on Transport that they cannot support any scheme which would involve the expenditure of very large additional sums of public money on the provision of new arterial roads, he will consider the advisability of making substantial additional grants from the Road Fund to highway authorities in built-up areas for street widening?

Mr. HERBERT MORRISON

Substantial grants are already available to approved schemes for the widening of roads in built-up areas.
