HC Deb 02 February 1931 vol 247 c1446W
Mr. DAY

asked the Minister of Transport whether he has any statistics that will show the number of accidents that have occurred during the 12 months ended to the last convenient date on the main road between Lancing and Worthing; and have any recent consultations taken place between the officers of his Department and the staff of the Sussex County Council with regard to the erection of additional warning signs?

Mr. HERBERT MORRISON

I am informed that the following accidents were recorded on the main road between Lancing and Worthing during the year 1930:—3 fatal accidents in which three persons were killed and three injured. 10 non-fatal accidents in which 12 persons were injured. 10 accidents not involving personal injuries.

No recent consultations have taken place between officers of my Department and the highway authority, who are primarily responsible for the erection of warning signs. I am, however, causing inquiries to be made into the matter.
