HC Deb 11 December 1931 vol 260 c2247W
Mr. CADOGAN

asked the Minister of Agriculture whether the marketing branch of his department has prepared a milk marketing scheme, in accordance with Report No. 33 in the Ministry's Economic Series, which will increase the prices now paid to producers for liquid milk and secure profitable prices to producers for milk purchased for conversion into cheese, butter, etc.?

Sir J. GILMOUR

No, Sir. The preparation of a scheme under the Agricultural Marketing Act is a matter for producers, or it may be entrusted by the Minister to a Reorganisation Commission. As I have already indicated, I should not feel justified in appointing a Commission in the absence of clear evidence that such a course is desired by producers themselves.
