HC Deb 11 December 1931 vol 260 c2239W
Mr. HANLEY

asked the Secretary to the Overseas Trade Department, if he can state the number of Foreign buyers and the number of buyers from the Dominions who attended the last British Industries Fair; the value of the orders placed by them; and the amount spent by his department on the fair.

Major COLVILLE

The number of overseas buyers who visited the last Fair was 2,642 in London and 1,984 in Birmingham, a total of 4,626. Of this number approximately one third came from the Dominions and Colonies and the remainder from foreign countries. Exact information as to the value of the orders placed at the Fair is not obtainable and the amount of orders so placed represents only a part of the whole value of the Fair. Except for this special grant for publicity the British Industrits Fair is organised on a self-supporting basis so as to involve no charge on public funds.
