HC Deb 10 December 1931 vol 260 c2094W
Mr. REMER

asked the Secretary for Mines if he is aware that the operations of the Coal Mines Act are restricting the coal export trade; and if any proposals are under consideration for revising the Act, especially in regard to minimum prices?

Mr. ISAAC FOOT

As I informed the hon. and gallant Member for the Isle of Wight (Captain P. Macdonald) on 1st December, I find opinion as to the effect of the Coal Mines Act, 1930, on industry and on the export trade much divided, and I am asking the organisations concerned for their views on the effect of the Act. I propose to take no further action until I have received and considered their replies.
