HC Deb 30 April 1931 vol 251 c1834W
Major CARVER

asked the Minister of Agriculture if he can state those English counties where the grey squirrel nuisance is most pronounced; and what is the limit of mileage from London where these animals have appeared?

Dr. ADDISON

The counties in which the grey squirrel is most prevalent are London, Middlesex, Surrey, Kent, Sussex, Hertfordshire, Buckinghamshire, Hampshire, Berkshire, Oxfordshire, Northamptonshire, Bedfordshire, Warwickshire, and Cheshire and the central part of Yorkshire. It is also prevalent in the neighbourhood of Exeter. I understand that grey squirrels are now found as far north as Fife in Scotland.
