asked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Board of Trade, as representing the Forestry Commissioners, in which counties of Wales and the acreage in each that it has been arranged to plant with Sitka spruce during the next 12 months; and what is the approximate number of men who will be employed in each area?

The Forestry Commissioners' planting programme for the next 12 months includes the following areas in Wales which have been found to be suitable for Sitka spruce—Brecon, 115 acres; Carmarthen, 315; Glamorgan, 360; Monmouth, 60; Carnarvon, 130; Montgomery, 90; Merioneth, 130; Cardigan, 120; Denbigh, 100; and Radnor, 30. The approximate number of persons who will be employed in connection with this work during the 12 months will be on the average one for each 10 acres (total, 144).
