Major OWENasked the Minister of Pensions whether in order to relieve the anxiety and uncertainty of parents and guardians of ex-service men's children, he will consider the desirability of making the duration of educational grants for a period of years instead of for one year, subject only to satisfactory progress on the part of the child?
§ Mr. F. O. ROBERTSNo difficulties should arise by reason of the limited duration of the periodic grant, because steps are taken to explain fully to the recipients the action they should take to obtain renewal of the grant. Where the case continues to fulfil the regulated conditions of the grant, no difficulty arises, but I should have no authority to authorise grants for any period in which these conditions might not be fulfilled.
