HC Deb 12 November 1930 vol 244 cc1685-6W
Mr. RHYS DAVIES

asked the Financial Secretary to the Treasury the total amount of State grant added to the funds of approved societies up to the last available date for each of the last five years and the amount which would have been added were it not for the provisions of the Economy Act, 1926?

Mr. GREENWOOD

1928 6,040,000
1929 6,220,000
1930 (to 30th September) 4,210,000

If the grant had been calculated at the rates in force before 1926 it would have been as follows:

£
1926 8,480,000
1927 8,920,000
1928 8,310,000
1929 8,560,000
1930 (to 30th September) 5,790,000
