§ Mr. SHAWTrials of this gun took place some years ago, but it was not at that time considered suitable for adoption into the Service. An improved model has recently been shown to the War Office and a demonstration of the gun has taken place. Two of these improved guns have been purchased in order that a comparative trial with several other weapons of a similar type may be undertaken.
