HC Deb 15 May 1930 vol 238 cc2067-8W
Sir R. ASKE

asked the Minister of Labour whether she is aware that unemployed men registered at the Welbeck Road Exchange, Newcastle, are required to register more frequently than at the neighbouring Exchanges at Wallsend and Heaton; and whether she will take steps to ensure that the requirements at the Welbeck Road Exchange are brought into line with the other Exchanges in this respect?

Miss BONDFIELD

The normal requirement involves daily attendance at the Exchange, but, owing to the numbers of claimants, attendance is excused on three days a week at Wallsend and Heaton, while this concession is only necessary on two days a week at Welbeck Road Exchange, Newcastle. In present circumstances it is not proposed to depart further from the normal rule.
