§ Colonel ENGLANDasked the Secretary to the Overseas Trade Department if his attention has been called to the fact that imports of British origin into Brazil are steadily losing ground; and if he can state the reasons given by our commercial representatives as to why this is so?
§ Mr. GILLETTUnited Kingdom domestic exports to Brazil increased from £14,400,000 in 1927 to £16,000,000 in 1928, but fell to £13,400,000 in 1929. This decrease was due mainly to a fall in exports of cotton goods, on which the duties on importation into Brazil were increased on 10th April, 1929.
