HC Deb 14 May 1930 vol 238 cc1879-80W
Mr. DIXEY

asked the Minister of Agriculture if his attention has been drawn to the fact that the Grain Stabilisation Corporation, which is the commercial agent of the United States Federal Farm Board, has made arrangements for 100,000,000 bushels of wheat to be milled into flour by United States millers and exported within the next five months; and, seeing that the largest proportion of this flour will find its way into the United Kingdom, whether he intends taking any steps to obviate the detrimental effect which such an importation of foreign wheat, milled by foreign agencies, is bound to have upon the interests of British farmers and the British milling industry?

Dr. ADDISON

My right hon. Friend has seen references in the trade press which allege that some such arrangement as that referred to by the hon. Member is under consideration. He has no precise information on the subject, but is taking steps to obtain it.
