HC Deb 14 May 1930 vol 238 cc1883-4W
Mr. MATHERS

asked the Minister of Transport the present position with regard to the projected road bridge across the Forth at Queensferry; and whether there are any prospects of this scheme being carried through as a national scheme to relieve unemployment or whether consideration is being given to any scheme for a smaller bridge further west?

Mr. HERBERT MORRISON

Particulars are being obtained with respect to the nature and volume of traffic and other conditions bearing on the proposal to construct a bridge at Queensferry. The prospects of the scheme being adopted, however, must largely depend upon the extent of the contributions towards the cost which the local authorities concerned are prepared to make. Consideration is also being given to proposals which have been made for the construction of a bridge at Alloa and Kincardine.
