HC Deb 14 May 1930 vol 238 c1878W
Mr. DAY

asked the President of the Board of Trade whether, during the previous 12 months, any notice of denunciation has been served upon Great Britain by foreign countries with whom we held treaties or agreements for the purpose of enjoying the most-favoured-nation treatment as regards Customs duties and, if so, will he give particulars; and can he state the number of treaties or agreements with foreign countries which are at present in existence by virtue of which goods produced or manufactured in Great Britain and/or Northern Ireland at present enjoy these facilities?

Mr. GILLETT

Two such commercial agreements have been denounced during the last 12 months. The exchange of Notes with Rumania of 1923 was denounced by the Rumanian Government? but is being continued in force pending the conclusion of a commercial treaty to replace it. The Treaty of Commerce and Navigation with Honduras of 1910 has been denounced by the Government of Honduras and will expire on 16th December next. The answer to the second part of the question is 44.
