HC Deb 14 May 1930 vol 238 c1890W
Mr. DAY

asked the Under-Secretary of State for the Colonies which of the Colonies or Protectorates have now embodied in local colonial legislation regulations similar to those embodied in the Cinematograph Films Act, 1927; and have any of the Governors of the Colonies, Dominions, or Protectorates notified his Department that such provisions could not be usefully adopted?

Dr. SHIELS

I take it that my hon. Friend is referring to the quota Clauses in the Cinematograph Films Act, 1927. In so far as the Colonies, Protectorates and Mandated Territories administered by this country are concerned, the position is as stated in my reply to his question on 5th March, except that the draft Ordinance framed by the Government of Trinidad has now been received and is under the consideration of my right hon. and Noble Friend. Introduction of similar legislation in the Dominions is not a matter for my Department.
