asked the Under-Secretary of State for Air, if he will state the number of civil aircraft in regular commercial service on recognised air routes registered in the British Empire, the United States of America, France, Germany, Italy, and the Union of Socialist Soviet Republics, respectively, at the most recent convenient date?

Mr. MONTAGUE

According to the information available, the number of civil aircraft owned by companies operating regular air transport services in His Majesty's dominions is 227, and the corresponding figures for the other countries are:—United States of America, 619; France, 411; Germany, 265; Italy, 64. I have no information in regard to the number in the Union of Socialist Soviet Republics.
