HC Deb 08 May 1930 vol 238 cc1152-3W
Mr. PALMER

asked the President of the Board of Education if his attention has been called to the insanitary condition of the Wood Street London County Council school (infants' department) and the prevalence of scarlet fever; and what steps, if any, will be taken to protect the scholars and the teaching staff?

Sir C. TREVELYAN

According to the information which I have received, there is no reason to suppose that the condition of the infants' department of the Wood Street Council School, Woolwich, is insanitary. I am informed that one assistant teacher on the staff of the department is suffering from scarlet fever, but that, she has not taught in the school since 1st April; and that one child was notified as suffering from the disease on 8th April, but that the usual measures were taken to check the spread of infection and that no further cases have occurred.
