HC Deb 08 May 1930 vol 238 c1146W
Dr. HASTINGS

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer if he can give the approximate amounts of earned and unearned income, respectively, upon which Surtax will be paid, in accordance with his Budget proposals?

Mr. P. SNOWDEN

The statistics collected relating to the Surtax do not divide the incomes coming under assesment so as to show the proportions of earned and investment income, but my hon. Friend will find in Appendix XV of the Appendices to the Report of the Colwyn Committee on National Debt and Taxation the results of a sample investigation carried out for the information of the Committee into the constitution of incomes exceeding £10,000.
