HC Deb 06 May 1930 vol 238 cc777-8W
Mr. RHY DAVIES

asked the Minister of Health whether his attention has been called to the failure of private builders to sell subsidy houses on street corners because of the heavy charges for road making consequent upon large frontages, and that those houses are uninhabited; and whether he can take any steps to remedy this state of affairs?

Mr. GREENWOOD

I am aware that difficulties sometimes arise in connection with street charges in respect of corner sites, but my attention has not been drawn to the difficulty mentioned by my hon. Friend. He will appreciate that corner sites and consequent street charges are an incident of development. I would also refer him to the reply given to the hon. Member for Withington (Mr. Simon) on the 1st instant.
