asked the Minister of Labour if she can state the number of people employed in the lace industry in July, 1925, and in July, 1929; and the number of insured persons in the same industry on those dates?

Mr. LAWSON

The estimated number of insured persons, aged 16 to 64, classi- fied as belonging to the lace industry in Great Britain was 16,920 at July, 1929, as compared with 18,540 at July, 1925. The number of insured persons in this industry recorded as unemployed was 1,655 at 24th June, 1929, as compared with 3,220 at 22nd June, 1925. Statistics of the total number of persons, insured and uninsured, employed in the industry are not available.
