HC Deb 06 May 1930 vol 238 c790W
Mr. McSHANE

asked the Home Secretary whether he is aware that the standing joint commitee for Staffordshire has increased the salary of Mr. Eustace Joy, as Clerk of the Peace, from £2,000 to £2,500 per annum, such increase to date from 1st April, 1929; and whether, as Mr. Joy is also Clerk to the county licensing authority, clerk to the joint tuberculosis committee, clerk to the mental hospital board, county returning officer for elections, registration officer for county voting lists, and clerk to the County Council, he has sanctioned this increase?

Mr. CLYNES

I am aware that such a recommendation has been resolved upon by the authority named and is being submitted to me. I must point out that the amount mentioned is in respect of service as Clerk to the County Council as well as Clerk of the Peace.
