HC Deb 06 May 1930 vol 238 c789W
Mr. D. G. SOMERVILLE

asked the Prime Minister if he is now able to suggest any date on which the Report of the Committee on Imperial Defence on the Channel Tunnel scheme may be expected?

Mr. P. SNOWDEN

I am informed that good progress is being made with the detailed inquiries, but the Prime Minister is not yet in a position to state the date at which an announcement can be made.

Mr. LOUIS SMITH

asked the Prime Minister whether any further progress has been made by the Committee of Imperial Defence in its consideration of the Channel Tunnel project; and when he expects to be in a position to announce the views of this Committee?

Mr. P. SNOWDEN

I would refer the hon. Member to the answer given to-day in reply to a similar question by the hon. Member for East Willesden (Mr. D. Somerville).
