§ Mr. HAMMERSLEYasked the President of the Board of Trade if he is aware that since 1924 there has been a fall in the level of wholesale prices of over 22 per cent., and that this fall in wholesale prices has naturally been accompanied by a fall in retail prices of slightly over 5 per cent.; and when the Consumers' Council is to be set up to deal with the matter?
§ Mr. W. R. SMITHI am aware that, as measured by the usual indices, wholesale prices have fallen more than retail prices in recent years. As regards the latter part of the question, I can only refer the hon. Member to the reply given to-day on this subject by my right hon. Friend the Chancellor of the Exchequer to the hon. Member for West Woolwich (Sir K. Wood).
