Mr. SIMONasked the Minister of Health whether he has now looked into the question of the mining operations at Red Tarn and its effect on the amenity of the district, especially of the Duddon Valley; and whether he will take any action in the matter?
§ Mr. GREENWOODI have communicated with the local bodies concerned. The question whether mining development is likely to be undertaken in the district appears to depend on the results of boring now taking place, and I understand that, if mining is likely to proceed, it is the intention of the local authorities to confer with the undertakers on measures for preserving amenities. I am asking to be kept informed of the course of proceedings.
