§ Major GLYNasked the Minister of Health whether he will consider the advisability of obtaining a return from rural local authorities that will indicate the number of houses that have been converted into week-end cottages during the last five years, thus depriving the local labourer of an available dwelling; and whether, whilst admitting the rights of property owners to dispose of their property in whatever way they think best, he will consider whether some arrangement can be made whereby before such conversion is authorised alternative accommodation shall be provided and the cost of such provision shall not fall solely on other ratepayers?
§ Mr. GREENWOODI do not think that the value of the particulars referred to would be sufficient to justify the labour and expense involved in obtaining them. I see some difficulty in making any such arrangement as is referred to in the latter part of the question, but I shall be pleased to consider any practical suggestion that the hon. and gallant Member may be able to make.
