§ Mr. BENNThe total value of imported salt in India in 1928–29 was 146¾ lakhs of rupees. It came from Aden, Egypt, the United Kingdom, Germany, Spain, Italian East Africa, Tripoli, French Somaliland, Roumania, and in small quantities from other sources. The estimated value of home production (whether by Government or by private manufacture under licence) was rather less than Rs.500 lakhs in the same year.
