asked the Home Secretary the number of registered agreements in settlement of claims under the Workmen's Compensation Act for the last complete year?

Mr. CLYNES

The total number of memoranda of agreements registered under the Workmen's Compensation Act, 1925, in Great Britain during the year ended 31st December, 1928, was 33,307. This number was made up as follows:

Lump sum cases:
(1) Where weekly payments had been made 19,013
(2) Where no weekly payments had been made 6,591
Weekly payment cases 1,491
Other cases, including those in which the agreement was for declaration of liability, termination of weekly payments, or for the suspension, resumption, diminution or increase of weekly payments 6,212
33,307
