Sir H. YOUNGasked the Under-Secretary of State for the Colonies whether a Commission has been appointed to consider railway policy in Tanganyika; what are the composition and terms of reference of the Commission; and what 529W steps will be taken to co-ordinate the matter with railway policy in Uganda, Kenya, Northern Rhodesia, and Nyasaland?
§ Dr. SHIELSI would refer the right hon. and gallant Member to the answer given to the right hon. Member for Stafford (Mr. Ormsby-Gore) on 25th June, of which I am sending him a copy. Apart from the appointment of Sir Sydney Henn as Chairman, my Noble Friend has not yet been notified of the actual composition of the Commission. As regards the last part of the question, the Commission's report, with the Governor's observations upon it, will be considered in relation to general rail-way policy in Eastern and Central Africa.
