It would require great labour to investigate all past borrowings by county councils. In the following table the figures of "amounts advanced" exclude all loans which have been entirely repaid. It should be rioted that the figures include loans which were not borrowed originally by county councils but the liability for which has been transferred to county councils by Act of Parliament.
