§ Mr. GREENWOODThe procedure adopted does not require applicants for pension to produce birth certificates in proof of their age. The Department applies to the Registrar-General for verification of the particulars of birth supplied by applicants. If the reference to the Registrar-General is unsuccessful, particulars are obtained to enable search to be made in the census records. If this also fails, the applicant is given an opportunity of producing any other evidence of age which may be available.
