§ Mr. MARCUSasked the Secretary of State for Scotland whether he has received representations from the Dundee Town Council requesting the Government to continue until 1st October, 1933, the present grant for assisting the provision of houses by private enterprise under the Housing Act, 1923; and what action he proposes to take in the matter?
Mr. W. ADAMSONThe answer to the first part of the question is in the affirmative. As regards the latter part, I would refer my hon. Friend to Clause 41 of the Housing (No. 2) Bill, as amended by Standing Committee A, which provides, among other things, that the existing rates of contribution by the State in respect of private enterprise houses shall not be subject to review until 1933. Clause 61 (3) of the Bill makes this provision applicable to Scotland.
