§ Major POLEasked the Secretary of State for India whether he will give information as to the progress that has been made in granting higher grade commissions to selected officers in the Indian Territorial Force since the adoption by the Government of India of the main recommendations of the Shea Committee?
§ Mr. BENNAccording to my latest information, only 31 of the higher grade commissions have been gazetted, the 51W delay being due to the fact that recommendations have at present to pass through a long and complicated channel. A change in procedure is under consideration by the Government of India, and it is anticipated that a much larger number will be granted during the course of the year.
