§ Mr. P. SNOWDENThe duty chargeable on sugar produced in this country from home-grown beet is at the same rate as that applicable to imported sugar of Empire origin entitled to preference. The difference, however, between the amount of duty paid in respect of such home-grown sugar and the amount which would have been payable at the rate applicable to imported sugar of foreign origin for the financial years since 1924 is approximately as follows:
