§ Mr. HANNONasked the Minister of Transport whether he will consider the desirability of issuing a circular to local authorities urging upon them the necessity for using goods and materials of home production to the utmost extent practicable, in connection with all contracts and works carried out under their supervision, similar to Circular 1060 recently issued by the Minister of Health to all local authorities in England and Wales?
§ Mr. HERBERT MORRISONWhile I propose to call the renewed attention of local authorities to this matter, I would remind the hon. Member that the use of British, materials is already a definite condition of grants to highway authorities made from the Road Fund at percentages above the normal, on the ground that the works to which they apply have been expedited for the relief of unemployment.
