§ Sir N. GRATTAN-DOYLEasked the Secretary for Mines whether he has any information as to the countries which in any way subsidise the export of their home-produced coal; and whether he can give the nature of the subsidy or bounty in each case?
§ Mr. TURNERThe only definite forms of State assistance for coal export trades of which I am aware take the form of preferential rail rates. These exist in Poland, Belgium, France and Czechoslovakia, and the Union of South Africa. In Czechoslovakia, the coal export trade is further assisted by the remission of coal tax.
