§ Mr. MANDERasked the Lord Privy Seal what action has been taken with regard to the application for a grant of interest for 15 years made by the Grand Union Canal Company for the improvement of the London to Birmingham route?
Mr. THOMASCareful consideration has been given to the proposals made by the Grand Union Canal Company, and the Ministry of Transport are now in close touch with the company in an endeavour to overcome certain difficulties in the scheme. I am hopeful that a decision will not be unduly delayed.
