HC Deb 19 February 1930 vol 235 c1408W
Lieut.-Colonel HENEAGE

asked the Minister of Health what is the estimated annual cost of the Derating Act in rural areas and for the rest of England, respectively; and how much has been spent up to the present time in these two categories?

Mr. GREENWOOD

The derating provisions of the Local Government Act, 1929 (to which it is presumed the hon. and gallant Member's question relates), operated from 1st October, 1929. The following table shows (i) the estimated amount for the current half-year of the temporary grant provided for in Section 112 of the Act, and (ii) the amount paid up to the present time to local authorities on account of that temporary grant.

amount of these grants in rural areas as distinct from other areas.
