§ Mr. RAMSBOTHAMasked the Minister of Health how many applications he has received from widows under the new Pensions Act for allowances in respect of adopted children; how many of these have been refused on the ground that the child was only legally adopted after the death of the husband; and whether he will consider an amendment that allowances can be granted in respect of the adopted child if it can be proved that the child lived with both parents for a certain period?
§ Mr. GREENWOODAs regares the first and second parts of the question, a record has not been kept of the number of applications for allowances in respect of adopted children or of the number of such cases in which the application was not successful; as regards the third part, I am afraid I cannot adopt the suggestion of the hon. Member.
