§ Mr. P. SNOWDENThe gross income brought under review and the actual income assessed to Income Tax in the year 1928–29 are estimated to be about £3,100,000,000 and £2,480,000,000 respectively. The number of persons with assessable incomes above £135 a year is estimated for that year at 5,000,000, of whom 2,150,000 were actually chargeable with tax.
