§ Sir P. RICHARDSONasked the Minister of Transport whether his attention has been drawn to the excessive vibration caused by heavy motor vehicles and the serious damage occasioned to properties adjoining roads; and, if so, what steps he proposes to take to minimise this damage and consequent loss to householders?
§ Mr. HERBERT MORRISONComplaints have been made to me from time to time on this subject. I think that there is reason to hope that the vibration caused by heavy traffic will diminish owing to the improvements which are continuously being made, both in road surfaces and in the design and construction; of heavy vehicles. As the hon. Member is aware, encouragement is given to the equipment of the heavier types of vehicles with pneumatic tyres by a substantial rebate in taxation.
